Wolfgang Mzyk

Wolfgang Mzyk (born September 29, 1923 in Königshütte (Upper Silesia) , † February 8, 2015 in Deggendorf ) was a German dentist and functionary. In 1941, when he was just 17, Mzyk applied for membership in the NSDAP and was accepted in 1941, the month of his 18th birthday.

After graduating from school, Mzyk was drafted into the parachute force of the Wehrmacht , at the end of 1942 he was captured in Egypt until he was released to Munich in 1946 . There he studied dentistry at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich , passed the state examination in 1948 and received his doctorate on October 9, 1950. In 1951 he began to set up a dental practice in Deggendorf . In 1955 he founded the Free Association of German Dentists . He was its federal chairman and worked to ensure that all dentists receive the right to be licensed as contract dentists and are allowed to take part in the care of those with statutory health insurance . He was also chairman of the European Union of Dentists , chairman of the assembly of representatives of the Bavarian Association of Statutory Health Insurance Dentists , from 1970 to 1977 president of the Bavarian Chamber of Dentists and member of the Bavarian State Health Council . From 1974 to 1977 he was a member of the Bavarian Senate for the Association of Liberal Professions in Bavaria.
