Wolfgang Reichel (born February 18, 1958 in Boguszów ) is a former German football player . He played a total of 74 games in the second division for KSV Baunatal and SpVgg Bayreuth .

Career

The offensive midfielder was in the finals of the German championship with the A-Juniors of FC Schalke 04 in both 1975 and 1976 . After a defeat in the first final he became German junior champion with the Schalke A-Jugend a year later with a 5-1 win against Rot-Weiss Essen. In the 1976/77 season , the 18-year-old was part of the Bundesliga squad, but was not used. Then Reichel moved to KSV Baunatal in 1977 in the 2nd Bundesliga South . For the North Hesse he completed 46 second division games in the following two years and scored two goals, but he could not prevent relegation from the second division in 1979. Wolfgang Reichel now joined the Westphalian amateur league club 1. FC Paderborn , with whom he became champion of the Oberliga Westfalen in 1980/81 . Since the 2nd Bundesliga was converted from a two-track to a single-track league, there was no promotion. For the season 1981/82 he signed with the Bavarian second division club SpVgg Bayreuth . In the Upper Franconia he came to 28 missions, in the final classification the club landed in 20th and last place and there was again a relegation. Reichel returned to North Rhine-Westphalia and was signed by the North Rhine upper division 1. FC Bocholt . After the vice championship in 1983 behind Rot-Weiß Oberhausen, he was with the club 1983/84 champions of the league and took part in the Bundesliga promotion round, but where they failed at Blau-Weiß 90 Berlin and FC St. Pauli . Reichel played for Bocholt for two more years before returning to SpVgg Bayreuth in 1986.

At his various club stations, Wolfgang Reichel made a total of 12 appearances in the DFB Cup , including the round of 16 with SpVgg Bayreuth in 1981/82 , when they lost 2-0 to Werder Bremen. In the cup competition 1983/84 the midfielder reached 1. FC Bocholt after Siegen a. a. Via the Stuttgarter Kickers and Eintracht Braunschweig the DFB-Pokal quarter-finals, where the outsider met the German record champions FC Bayern Munich and lost just 1: 2 in front of 20,000 spectators.
