Christian Hansen (translator)

Christian Hansen (* 1962 in Cologne ) is a German translator for literature from the Spanish and French languages.

Life

Hansen studied general and comparative literature at the Free University in Berlin . He did his practical training as a translator and editor for the German-language edition of Le Monde diplomatique . He worked in the Berlin translation workshop and translated works by Juan Goytisolo and José Pablo Feinmann together with Thomas Brovot .

Hansen mainly translates Latin American authors such as Vizconde de Lascano Tegui , Alan Pauls , Patricio Pron and Guillermo Rosales . Other authors Hansen has translated so far have been Roberto Bolaño , Julio Cortázar , Mario González Suárez and Sergio Pitol .

He lives and works in Berlin and Madrid.

In the 2016/17 winter semester, Hansen August Wilhelm von Schlegel was visiting professor for the poetics of translation at the Peter Szondi Institute of the Free University of Berlin .

Hansen is a member of the Association of German-Language Translators of Literary and Scientific Works , VdÜ.
