Zug translator grant
The Zug translator scholarship enables outstanding translations of literary and culturally important works into the German language. The scholarship has been awarded every two years since 1997 and, with 50,000 Swiss francs in prize money, is the highest endowed translation award in the German-speaking countries. Since 2003, recognition prizes amounting to 10,000 Swiss francs each have been awarded.
The Zuger Translators Association is the sponsor of the translator scholarship and the recognition award . The original name Verein Dialog-Werkstatt Zug was changed to Zuger Translators in 2016 . The association receives support from the city and canton of Zug , the Swiss cultural foundation Pro Helvetia and, to a large extent, from private foundations and sponsors. The Zuger Translators Association promotes the culture of literary translation by awarding the Zug translator scholarship, organizing the Zug translator talks and other accompanying cultural events in the Zug region.
At the end of November 2016, the association celebrated its 20th anniversary, among other things with the publication of the anniversary publication “Words weigh” (Balmer Verlag, Zug).
