NRL 1999
The NRL 1999 was the second season of the National Rugby League , the Australian-New Zealand rugby league championship. In the second season, the number of teams was reduced from 20 to 17, as the Adelaide Rams and the Gold Coast Chargers had disbanded and the St. George Dragons with the Illawarra Steelers were merged to the St. George Illawarra Dragons . The first place in the table after the end of the regular season occupied the Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks , who were eliminated in the semifinals against the St. George Illawarra Dragons. They lost in the final 18:20 against Melbourne Storm , which won the NRL for the first time.
