history

The St. George Dragons began playing in the New South Wales Rugby Football League (NSWRFL) in 1921 . Almost two decades passed before the first title win in the 1941 season, but shortly afterwards the Dragons became the absolute top team in the league. Between 1956 and 1966 St. George won eleven championship titles in a row, which is an unmatched world record in rugby to this day . In 1979 the last title was won, in 1996 the last participation in the Grand Final as an independent club. With fifteen championship titles won, St. George is still in second place in the all-time ranking behind the South Sydney Rabbitohs .
