NSWRL 1949

The NSWRL 1949 was the 42nd season of the New South Wales Rugby League Premiership , the first Australian rugby league championship. The first place in the table after the end of the regular season occupied the South Sydney Rabbitohs . They lost in the final 12:19 against the St. George Dragons , who won the NSWRL for the second time.

    Playoffs

    In fact, St. George would have won the NSWRL after beating Balmain. Since South Sydney had the so-called "Right of Challenge" as the winner of the Minor Premiership, the Grand Final between St. George and South Sydney took place a week later.
