The Newtown Jets of 1943

The NSWRL 1943 was the 36th season of the New South Wales Rugby League Premiership , the first Australian rugby league championship. The first place in the table after the end of the regular season occupied the Newtown Jets . They won in the final 34: 7 against the North Sydney Bears and won the NSWRL for the third time.

    Playoffs

    In fact, North Sydney would have won the NSWRL after beating St. George. Since Newtown had the so-called "Right of Challenge" as the winner of the Minor Premiership, the Grand Final between Newtown and North Sydney took place a week later.
