NSWRL 1948
The NSWRL 1948 was the 41st season of the New South Wales Rugby League Premiership , the first Australian rugby league championship. The first place in the table after the end of the regular season occupied the Western Suburbs Magpies . They won 8: 5 against the Balmain Tigers in the final and won the NSWRL for the third time.

Playoffs
In fact, Balmain would have won the NSWRL after beating St. George. Since Western Suburbs had the so-called "Right of Challenge" as the winner of the Minor Premiership, the Grand Final between Western Suburbs and Balmain took place a week later.
