NSWRL 1930

The 1930 NSWRL was the twenty-third season of the New South Wales Rugby League Premiership , the first Australian rugby league championship. First place after the end of the regular season went to the Western Suburbs Magpies . They won in the final 27-2 against the St. George Dragons and won the NSWRL for the first time.

The club Glebe , which had played in the NSWRL since its inception in 1908, was elected by the New South Wales Rugby League General Committee with 13:12 votes from the league before the start of the season. Numerous fans and local politicians protested against this decision, but without success, so that the number of NSWRL teams was reduced to eight.

    Playoffs

    The playoff system in 1930 saw the "Right of Challenge" used in 1911 for the final. This stated that, should the lower ranked team win, the higher ranked team had the right to request a replay to take place one week later.
