NSWRL 1947

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The NSWRL 1947 was the 40th season of the New South Wales Rugby League Premiership , the first Australian rugby league championship. The first place in the table after the end of the regular season occupied the Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs . These lost both the final and the grand final against the Balmain Tigers , which won the NSWRL for the tenth time.

In 1947 two new teams took part with the Manly-Warringah Sea Eagles and the Parramatta Eels , whereby the number of teams increased to 10 for the first time.
