NRL 2001

The 2001 NRL was the fourth season of the National Rugby League , the Australian-New Zealand rugby league championship. The 2001 season was the first season in which no teams were added, eliminated or merged. The only change was that the Auckland Warriors changed their name to New Zealand Warriors . The Parramatta Eels occupied the first place in the table after the end of the regular season . They lost in the final 24:30 against the Newcastle Knights , who won the NRL for the first time.
