Wolfgang Schurreit

Wolfgang Schurreit (born March 23, 1941 in Mohrungen , East Prussia ) is a German politician ( SPD ). From 1982 to 2003 he was a member of the state parliament in Lower Saxony.

Schurreit graduated from high school in 1961 at the Johanneum in Lüneburg. He then studied at the Lüneburg University of Education. He worked as a teacher from 1964 to 1979. When he started teaching, he was a member of the Education and Science Union. Four years later he joined the SPD. After that he was head of the Kreideberg orientation stage in Lüneburg until he moved into the state parliament in 1982. On June 21, 1982 Schurreit entered the tenth electoral term of the Lower Saxony state parliament , of which he was a member until the end of the 14th electoral term in 2003. During that time he was chairman of the Media Affairs Committee.

Schurreit was very committed to local politics and was a member of the district council from 1972 to 2006. From 1991 to 1996 he was district administrator of the Lüneburg district. At the end of 2008 he was honored with the Federal Cross of Merit with ribbon for his services.
