The Wollerscheider Venn is a nature reserve in the municipality of Simmerath in North Rhine-Westphalia . It is located west of Lammersdorf north of the B399 , which also forms the border with Belgium . Here is a typical, albeit degenerate, Venn landscape with all the typical biotopes of the High Fens , with large-scale raised bog communities with characteristic plant species.
Protection purpose
The purpose of the protection is the preservation, development and restoration of natural habitats in accordance with Annex I of the Habitats Directive. So come in the nature reserve following protected habitat types: Moore , swamps , springs, natural lakes, wet and wet grassland, breakage and swamp forests, dwarf shrub , broom, juniper heath , Nardus grasslands .
The nature reserve is a habitat and a. of Braunkehlchen , bog aquilonaris , Braunfleckiger Perlmuttfalter , Lycaena helle , Kleiner Ampfer-Feuerfalter , edge ring Perlmuttfalter , common hawker , bog Hawker , Northern Emerald and short wing Beißschrecke . In the area settle z. B. Rosemary heather , round-leaved sundew , common crowberry , German gorse , lung gentian , common moor-bear moss , small water hose and peat moss .
