Volodymyr Oleksandrowytsch Jaworiwskyj (born October 11, 1942 in Tekliwka , Kingdom of Romania (now part of Vinnytsia Oblast , Ukraine ), † April 17, 2021 ) was a Ukrainian writer and politician ( All-Ukrainian Association "Fatherland" ).

Life

Volodymyr Jaworiwskyj was born in 1942 in the then Romanian village of Tekliwka near Kryschopil and studied to be a teacher of Ukrainian and literature at the University of Odessa until 1964 . He then worked for radio and television as well as the newspapers Запорізька правда ( German  "Zaporozhye Truth" ), Ленінська молодь ("Lenin Youth"), Літературна Украиїна ("Literary Ukraine") .ітча (" Literary Ukraine") and the magazine .

1984 Jaworiwskyj was for his book The Eternal Kortelissy (1981), where he formed by units of the armed forces committed massacres in the Volhynian village Kortelissy in World War II themed, with the Shevchenko National Prize honored.

From 1989 to 1991 he was a delegate of the People's Deputies Congress of the Soviet Union . From 1996 to 1999 he headed the committee for the Taras Shevchenko Prize, the National Prize of Ukraine, and was a member of the committee for two more years. He was also chairman of the Verkhovna Rada committee on the Chernobyl nuclear disaster .

From 2001 to 2011 Jaworiwskyj was chairman of the Ukrainian Writers' Union . As a member of the “Fatherland” party, he was a member of the Verkhovna Rada from May 2002 to November 2014 and, since December 26, 2007, its committee chairman for culture and spirituality.

Private

Jaworiwskyj lived in Kiev with his wife Halyna (Galina; * 1946), who is an artist at the National Philharmonic of Ukraine . They had two children, a son born in 1964 and a daughter born in 1978. Jaworiwskyi died in April 2021 at the age of 78.

  • Ми вже не раз відроджувалися. Щоб катам було видніше, кого відстрілювати насамперед.
  • Хрести на могилах - як знаки додавання між минулим і майбутнім.
