Worm is a district of Merkstein , city of Herzogenrath , in the city ​​region of Aachen in North Rhine-Westphalia .

The small, rural village of Worm is one of the oldest settlements in what is now the city of Herzogenrath and is said to be of Celtic origin. The place name is derived from the river Wurm and means something like "warm place", because the hot water of the Aachen springs used to flow directly into the Wurm.
