Wouter Jurgens

Wouter Robert Marie Jurgens (born June 18, 1971 in Doetinchem ) is a Dutch diplomat . He has been the Dutch ambassador to Myanmar since 2016 .

education

Wouter Jurgens, who has a doctorate, studied business administration with a Bachelor of Business Administration at the Nyenrode University of Economics from 1989 to 1992 , from 1993 to 1996 economics with a master’s degree at the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam and then political science at the Universiteit van Amsterdam .

Diplomatic career

Since 1997 he has been working for the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs . He worked abroad in Kigali (1999 to 2001), Washington, DC (2005 to 2007) and Pretoria (2007 to 2012). In the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, he worked in the Department of Politics (DPZ) and European Integration (DIE / IS).

From 2011 to 2012 he was deputy head of mission at the embassy in South Africa , from 2012 to 2014 head of department and advisor to the department for national security, from 2014 to 2016 project manager of the 4th Global Conference on CyberSpace, which was held in 2015 at the World Forum in The Hague .

Since July 2016 he has been the Dutch ambassador in Rangoon .
