Normal way | From the Bodenalm and the southwest ridge. |
The Wunwand ( 3061 m above sea level ) is a mountain peak of the Eichhamstock in the Venediger group in East Tyrol ( Austria ). It is located in the east of the municipality of Prägraten am Großvenediger . The neighboring summit is the Wunspitze in the northeast.
location
The Wunwand is located in the southwest of the Eichhamstock in the core zone of the Hohe Tauern National Park . It forms the south-western end of the Eichhamstock. To the north of the Wunwand is the valley of the Kleiner Eichhambächles, to the west the Timmeltal . In the south of the Wunwand the so-called Wallhorner Mäder extend with the Bodenalm underneath and the Virgental. A ridge radiates from the Wunwand to the north, which branches off quickly to the northeast to the Wunspitze ( 3217 m above sea level ).
Promotion opportunities
The normal route to the Wunwand leads from the Bodenalm over the steep, south-facing grass slopes unmarked to a rock channel that leads to the first part of the west ridge. There are easy climbing spots (difficulty I according to UIAA ) before going over the block ridge to the summit. Here, too, there are easy climbing spots of comparable difficulty.
