Wynyard

The place Wynyard with about 5200 inhabitants is located on the coastline in the northwest of the state of Tasmania , the largest island in Australia. It is 41 miles from Devonport and 11 miles from Burnie .

description

The local population works as fishermen, for tourists or in the surrounding tulip fields or in the nearby town of Burnie.

In the Inglis River , which flows through the village and leads into the ocean, can be fished. There is a small anchorage for fishing and sailing boats in this river. The town's long beaches are made of quartz sand and the town has its own lido, as dangerous currents can arise in the river due to the ebb and flow of tides.

In the vicinity of the place, the Table Cape , a magma chamber ( lakcolith ) that has solidified in the depths and later exposed by erosion , can be climbed. The Table Cape stands out clearly from the coastline.

There is a visitor center in Wynyard with a remarkable collection of Ford automobiles and local art. Every year there is a tulip festival in Wynyard , which attracts many tourists. The tulips grow on large fields in the vicinity of the village.

The airfield Burnie can be reached on foot from the village and connects the region with Australian airports. Burnie can be reached by car on the Baas Highway . There used to be a rail link, which was discontinued in 1970.
