Xabier Zandio Echaide (born March 17, 1977 in Pamplona / Spain ) is a former Spanish cyclist .
Career
Xabier Zandio became professional in 2001 with the Spanish cycling team Banesto . His most important achievement was his victory in the stage race Burgos Tour 2008 . He took part in "Grand Tours" several times and was one of Óscar Pereiro's helpers in his 2006 Tour de France victory .
Until 2014, Zandio started six times in the Tour de France . His best result was 22nd place in 2005 .
After the end of the 2016 season, he ended his active career.
