Xaver Fischer (theologian)

Franz Xaver Fischer (born January 29, 1837 in Hohenrain ; † August 5, 1921 in Aarau ), entitled to live in Triengen , Catholic or Christian Catholic, was a Swiss Christian Catholic theologian .

Life

Xaver Fischer, son of Franz Xaver Fischer, 1857 Maturand at the Lucerne School, devoted the following years studying theology at the University of Lucerne and at the Albert-Ludwigs-University of Freiburg , where he graduated. 1861 After he was ordained a priest in Solothurn in 1862 , he took up the position of chaplain and district teacher in Olten in the same year , before being appointed director of the Lucerne boys' school in 1866. In 1869 he moved to the management of the Lucerne girls' school and the prefecture of the Maria-Hilf-Kirche.

Fischer, who joined the Christian Catholic faith movement, was called to Aarau at the end of 1876, and on February 18, 1877 he was installed as the first Christian Catholic pastor for the Catholic parish in Aarau. Xaver Fischer, who married Lina Brunner-Keller in 1882, was elected the first President of the Association of Christian Catholic Church Choirs in Switzerland in 1891, a position he held until 1919. After 28 years of pastoral service, Fischer was installed as an episcopal vicar in 1905 , an office he held until his death in 1921.

In 1910 , Fischer, who was awarded an honorary theological doctorate from the Christian Catholic Theological Faculty of the University of Bern for his services to the Christian Catholic movement, emerged as a promoter and founder of church associations and choirs in his community and in the diocese. He was particularly committed to schools and welfare for the poor and the disabled. Fischer also wrote writings on ecclesiastical and secular topics.
