Xaver Stalder

Xaver Stalder (born December 1, 1868 in Sarmenstorf ; † August 26, 1936 there ; entitled to live in Sarmenstorf) was a Swiss politician ( KVP ) and judge . From 1914 to 1935 he was Councilor of the Canton of Aargau .

biography

Stalder became an orphan at the age of eleven and went to the monastery school of the Einsiedeln monastery . In 1885 he returned to Sarmenstorf to take over his father's property. In 1889 he was elected judge at the district court in Bremgarten , from 1898 he was its vice-president, from 1907 to 1914 its president. In his home parish he was President of the Commission for the Drainage and Improvement of the Swamp Area, and he was also involved in the planning of the Wohlen-Meisterschwanden Railway .

In 1901 Stalder was elected to the Grand Council , which he presided over in 1913/14. In 1914, he was elected to the cantonal government. As a government councilor, he initially headed the Department of the Interior and later the Department of Justice and Police. After 21 years in office, he resigned in 1935 for health reasons.
