Xavier Bordas i Piferrer SDB (born September 24, 1914 in Sant Pol de Mar , † July 23, 1936 in Barcelona ) was a Roman Catholic religious priest and martyr who is venerated as a blessed .
history
Xavier Borads i Piferrer grew up in a very religious family and went to school with the Salesians of Don Bosco in Mataró . In 1932 he joined the religious community and studied philosophy at the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome . On July 17, 1936, he and Fèlix Vivet i Trabal returned to Spain and were posted to Sarrià in Barcelona. There they were surprised by the outbreak of the Spanish Civil War . They tried to go into hiding in the Bordas family home, but were discovered and shot because of their religious beliefs.
Beatification and Adoration
Xavier Bordas i Piferrer was beatified by Pope John Paul II on March 11, 2001 in Rome , along with 200 other martyrs from Valencia , including 42 Salesians . His liturgical feast day is the day of his death, July 23.
