The Yantarni is a stratovolcano in the Aleutian chain , 625 km southwest of Anchorage .
The 1336 m high volcano is located on the Alaska Peninsula 17.8 km west-southwest of the active volcano Mount Chiginagak . No eruptions from historical times are documented. The remote mountain, which is inconspicuous due to its low altitude, was only identified as an extinct volcano in January 1979. The Yantarni has a central lava dome from the Holocene . On the slopes of the Yantarni there are Andesitic lava flows and overlying Dazitic ash deposits.
The Yantarni Creek flows from the western slopes of the volcano in an arc to the southern Yantarni Bay . The Mother Goose Lake is located 20 km north of the volcano.
