Yi Cheng

The Venerable Master Yi Cheng ( Chinese  一诚法师 , Pinyin Yicheng Fǎshī * 1926 in Wangcheng , Hunan , † 21st December 2017 ) was a Chinese Buddhist Chan Monk. He was the chairman of the Chinese Buddhist Association .

Life

He became a monk in June 1949 and received full ordination from Venerable Xu Yun虚云 in 1956 in Guangdong Nanhua Temple . In 1957, under the leadership of Xu Yun, he followed the Chan traditions of the Weiyang School and Linji School of the Southern School of Chinese Chan Buddhism. In 1989 he was abbot of Zhenru Temple in Yunju Shan in circles Yongxiu the prefecture-level city of Jiujiang in the southern Chinese province of Jiangxi .

He was Vice President of the Buddhist Association of China and President of the Buddhist Association of Jiangxi , and from 2002 to 2010 he was President of the Buddhist Association of China .
