Yumen

The city of Yumen ( 玉門市  /  玉门市 , Yùmén Shì ) is an independent city in the prefecture -level city of Jiuquan in the Chinese province of Gansu . In 1999 it had 199,811 inhabitants. Their area covers 13,500 km². The main town is the large community of Yumen 玉門 鎮  /  玉门 镇 .

The city of Yumen should not be confused with its namesake, the Yumenguan or "Jadetor Pass" in Dunhuang .

The Huoshaogou site ( Huoshaogou yizhi ) from the early Chinese Bronze Age has been on the list of monuments of the People's Republic of China (6-206) since 2006 .

In 1932, Changma Township was the epicenter of a major earthquake .

location

Yumen is located in the Hexi Corridor between the cities of Guazhou in the west and Jiuquan in the east. In the north is the Gobi Desert , in the south the Qilian Shan Mountains .

Administrative structure

At the municipal level, the independent city consists of an administrative committee, four large municipalities and seven municipalities (one of which is a nationality municipality).
