Yvonne Minton
Yvonne Fay Minton CBE (born December 4, 1938 in Sydney ) is an Australian opera singer ( mezzo-soprano ) who achieved world fame in the 1970s as Kundry ( Parsifal ), Brangäne ( Tristan and Isolde ) and Octavian ( Der Rosenkavalier ), but also as Fricka ( Die Walküre ), Dorabella ( Così fan tutte ) and Béatrice ( Béatrice et Bénédict ) shone.
Minton studied in her hometown, but has lived in London since 1961 , where she was a long-time member of the Covent Garden Opera Company . She started her career as an alto and won the Kathleen Ferrier Prize . She appeared regularly at the Bayreuth Festival and the Salzburg Festival . Minton also worked occasionally as oratorios - and as a song singer .
