Zé Roberto II (born December 9, 1980 in Itumbiara ; real name José Roberto de Oliveira ) is a Brazilian soccer player who is under contract with EC Bahia . During his time at FC Schalke 04 he was in Germany because of the also in the Bundesliga active Zé Roberto known as "Zé Roberto II".
Career
Zé Roberto II made the first attempt to gain a foothold in European football in 2001 at Benfica Lisbon . However, he was unable to prevail there, so that after only six months he left Portugal for Brazil. In his home country he played for various clubs until the beginning of 2008 and was able to attract the attention of European clubs again through good performances.
In December 2007, Zé Roberto II completed a sports medical examination at FC Schalke 04 , where he signed a contract that ran until June 30, 2011 on January 4, 2008.
He scored his first and only goal for the Knappen in his first Bundesliga game on February 3, 2008 when he beat VfB Stuttgart . He scored in stoppage time, just 113 seconds after coming on for Ivan Rakitić , to make it 4-1.
After Zé Roberto II announced in the Brazilian media during the 2008/09 winter break that he would not appear in Gelsenkirchen for the start of Schalke training, he made this announcement without informing Schalke directly. The association viewed his actions as a violation of his employment contract.
In January 2009 he was loaned to Flamengo Rio de Janeiro for the rest of the year , with whom he became Brazilian champion. After the winter break, he came back to Gelsenkirchen late on January 6, 2010.
For the 2010/11 season he moved to the Brazilian club CR Vasco da Gama .
In January 2011, Zé Roberto II moved to SC Internacional and only one year later to EC Bahia .
