The order for the Z 45 was placed on February 17, 1941. Z 45 was the fifth destroyer of the 1936 B (Mob) type. He was at work Weser the Deschimag in Bremen built. The destroyer was another variant of the 1936 destroyer . The type 1936 B (Mob) was therefore not a new development, but largely corresponded to the predecessor types.
A major change in the 1936 B (Mob) type was the return from 15 cm to 12.7 cm rapid fire guns.
Z 45 was laid down on September 1, 1943 and launched on April 15, 1944. At the end of the war in May 1945, the destroyer was almost finished. In 1946 the Z 45 was broken up in the shipyard.
