Plesching is a place to Linz in Mühlviertel in Upper Austria as well as the village of the municipality Steyregg in District Urfahr environment .

geography

The village is located near the city limits of Linz after the village of Katzbach towards Steyregg. It is located on the northeastern edge of the Linzer Feld , not far from the Danube. Here the lower terraces of the Danube valley rise to the Mühlviertel outskirts . The place is on Pleschinger Straße  (L569).

The village has around 1100 inhabitants. The actual town of Plesching is located on Pleschinger Straße not far from the Pleschinger See , which was created in the 1970s . At the Lachstatt street near the municipal border with Linz and Engerwitzdorf at the foot of penny mountain settlement is Plesching on Pfenningberg .

history

The name goes back to the old Slavic pleš (bare, bare surface). The field name was transferred to the settlement.

Originally, Plesching was a small farming village, similar to the neighboring Katzbach, which belongs to Linz. From the 1960s, more and more single-family and terraced houses were built, and Linz residents in particular moved here. This is how the chemical settlement, a row house settlement for employees of the chemical industry in Linz, came into being . The Linz bus route 33 operated by Linz AG was extended from Katzbach to Plesching around 1980 and thus opens up the town and Lake Plesching, which is a popular local recreation area for the people of Linz.

Since the residents of Plesching are mainly newcomers from Linz on the one hand and Plesching is a few kilometers away from the center of Steyregg on the other hand and therefore there are hardly any connections to the rest of the municipality of Steyregg, the incorporation of the town of Plesching into Linz was repeatedly discussed or this was also requested by citizens' initiatives, however not implemented yet.
