Zabytyj Island ( English ; Russian Остров Забытый Ostrow Sabyty , German 'Forgotten Island' ) is an approximately 2.5 km long and 1 km wide island in the Highjump Archipelago off the Knox coast of the East Arctic Wilkesland . It is located 2 km north of Miles Island in a larger group of islands east of the Edisto Canal and about 2 km southeast of the Remenchus Glacier . Its western part is divided into three small peninsulas .
Scientists on a Soviet Antarctic expedition carried out measurements and names in 1956 . The Antarctic Names Committee of Australia transcribed this in 1992 in a partial transcription into English.
