Zacharias Füllsack (* around 1570 in Hamburg , † 1616 in Dresden , also Zacharias Füllsach ) was a German trombonist , composer and lutenist .

Life

Not too much is known about the life of Füllsack. Hamburg is assumed to be the place of birth, but this is by no means considered safe. There he is said to have completed his training as a trombonist, lutenist and composer. Between 1600 and 1612 he held a position as a trombonist at the council chapel there. Until the end of his life in 1616, he also played this instrument in the Dresden court orchestra . Füllsack often played at Gottorf Castle , where he also got in touch with musicians from England .

Füllsack's work consists of two collections of dance pieces, one of which, published in 1607, contains 24 five-part “Extra-Readers Paduan and Galliards ” and the other (from 1609) contains 18 of these dance couples. He brought both out together with Christian Hildebrandt , all dances receive parts for Canto, Quinto, Alto, Tenore and Basso. Among the composers of these dances are Melchior Borchgrevinck , William Brade , Johann Sommer , Johann Steffens , Benedict Greebe and Matthias Mercker .
