The Zadni Mnich (German: Hinterer Mönch) is a mountain in the Polish High Tatras with 2172 m. It is located on the main ridge of the Tatra Mountains on the Polish- Slovak border in the Mięguszowieckie Szczyty massif .
Location and surroundings
Below the summit is the Meerauge mountain lake in the Dolina Rybiego Potoku valley . The mountain is located near the Mnich and Ciemnosmreczyńska Turnia peaks and the Hintere Mönchscharte ( Przełączka pod Zadnim Mnichem ) mountain pass separates it from the Cubryna peak .
etymology
The Polish name Zadni Mnich can be translated as rear monk . The name Mönch II can also be found in literature.

tourism
The summit is popular with climbers. The Schronisko PTTK nad Morskim Okiem mountain hut is a suitable starting point for an ascent . There is no marked hiking trail to the top.
