The Cubryna ( Czech / Slovak Čubrina ) is a mountain in the Polish High Tatras with 2376 m. above sea level It is located on the main ridge of the Tatra Mountains on the Polish- Slovakian border in the Mengsdorfer Spitzen massif . It is the seventh highest mountain in Poland.

Location and surroundings

Below the summit of the mountain lake is Meerauge in the valley Fish Lake Valley . The mountain pass Hinzenseescharte ( Hińczowa Przełęcz ) separates it from the Große Mengsdorfer Spitze ( Mięguszowiecki Szczyt ), the mountain pass Hintere Mönchscharte ( Przełączka pod Zadnim Mnichem ) separates it from the rear monk ( Zadni Mnich ).

etymology

The Polish name Cubryna is derived from the word Czupryna , which can be translated as uncombed hair . This name comes from the rock formations on their mountain ridge.

Flora and fauna

Despite its height, the Cupryna has a colorful flora and fauna. Numerous plant species occur, especially high alpine flowers and grasses. In addition to insects and mollusks and birds of prey, marmots and chamois also visit the summit.

The summit is popular with climbers. The Schronisko PTTK nad Morskim Okiem mountain hut is a suitable starting point for an ascent . There is no marked hiking trail to the top.
