Zarnow is the name of an extinct noble family from the Pomerania .

history

The Zarnow first appear in 1523 with Bartholomeus Czarnow tho Wobest . The brothers Joachim and Bartholomew of Zarnow were 1550 small Leba in Lauenburg and Wobesde in Stolp invested . In 1575 the named Joachim and Michael von Zarnow as well as the cousins ​​and brothers Karsten , Georg , Philipp and Marx von Zarnow , in 1608 their descendants once more were enfeoffed with the two named goods. In 1620 Peter von Zarnow was still alive . With this, the Zarnow in Western Pomerania seem to have gone out . Anton von Natzmer became the feudal successor.

According to Ledebur , however, the family still owned the Kavelpass and Zinzow near Anklam in Western Pomerania in 1724 . Whether this assignment of ownership is correct or whether it is actually members of the same family is a matter of dispute.

The coat of arms is divided diagonally right , below a chess of silver and red, above in red a silver growing billy goat pierced by an arrow. On the helmet with its silver-red covers, three arrows pointing downwards on red stems.

The coat of arms can be assigned to the Pomeranian coat of arms group " Hirsch über Schach " if it also shows a billy goat instead of the deer .
