Zdzislaw Marek Krasnodębski (* 11. April 1953 in Choszczno ) is at the University of Bremen teaching professor of sociology and politicians of the conservative Polish party Law and Justice (PiS), which he did in 2014 for the European Parliament represents.

Life

After graduating from high school in the district town of Grójec (1972), Krasnodębski studied philosophy and sociology in Warsaw . After graduating, he found a job as a research assistant at Warsaw University . From 1979 to 1981 he was able to study at the Ruhr University in Bochum thanks to a scholarship . In 1984 he received his doctorate in Warsaw . But it was only after the political change in 1989/90 that his habilitation thesis entitled "The decline of the idea of ​​progress" was accepted.

From October 1, 1991 to February 15, 1992 he taught "Sociological Theory" as a visiting professor at the University of Kassel . Since then he has had his main residence in Germany. In 1995 he became a professor at the University of Bremen. From 2001 to 2011 he was also an associate professor at the Catholic Cardinal Stefan Wyszyński University in Warsaw.

Political career

In 2005, Krasnodębski joined the committee in support of Lech Kaczyński's candidacy in the presidential elections . From 2005 to 2007 he was a member of the advisory team of his twin brother Jarosław Kaczyński , who led the government during this time . He appeared particularly as a critic of the Polish liberals and left-wing liberals, whom he accused of ignoring national traditions and the collective memory of the Poles, as well as the chairman of the Union of Expellees , the CDU MP Erika Steinbach . He accused the German Poland correspondent of being “anti-Polish”.

In 2014 he joined the program advisory board of the Law and Justice Party (PiS) led by Jarosław Kaczyński . In the same year he was elected to the European Parliament for the PiS as representative of Warsaw. There he is a member of the Employment and Social Affairs Committee and the Delegation for relations with the United States.

According to Polish press reports, the PiS chairman had considered building Krasnodębski as a candidate for the 2015 presidential election . But Kaczyński had refrained from doing so because, in his opinion, Krasnodębski was too little involved in the Polish public.

On March 1, 2018, Professor Krasnodębski was elected Vice-President of the European Parliament.
