The St. Georg colliery in Durchholz is a former hard coal mine . The mine was also known under the names of Zeche St. Georgenbank , Zeche St. George , Zeche St. Georg bei Herbede and Zeche St. Gregorius . The mine belonged to the Märkisches Bergamtsiertel and there to the jury area Hardenstein .

Mining history

In 1748 a seam was opened up. On 5 May of 1759 was a length field in the area Zum Wiesengrund awarded . From 1769 the mine was in operation for several years. In 1794 the St. Gregorius field was measured . On March 2, 1795, the Längenfeld St. Gregorius extension was awarded. In October 1824 a dilapidated shaft was cleared and put back into operation. In the following year, the Georg shaft was sunk . The shaft was driven by a göpel. From 1827 the mine was only in operation for a while. In 1830 the Hermine, Gustav, Fanny and Laura shafts were in operation. Schacht Hermione was equipped with a horse peg. On October 31, 1835, the operation was stopped until the deeper solution by the St. Johannes Erbstollen . On February 17, 1836, the tunnel was granted hereditary rights. The Stollenmundloch was at a depth 170 meters from + NN , the tunnel was east ascended . In 1839 an experimental shaft was sunk. In October 1840 the mine was put back into operation. In the same year, the tonnage Georg shaft was sunk deeper. The shaft now had a shallow depth of 34 laughs and was thus below the bottom of the St. Georg Erbstollen . From 1842 the mine was closed by the St. Johannes Erbstollen. In 1845 the Pferdegöpel shaft George was in promotion . On August 11, 1854, the right to inherit the tunnel was revoked. The Georg shaft, which took several tonnes, was also in production in 1855. On May 20, 1862, the mine below the St. Johannes Erbstollen sole was combined with other mines to form the United Bommerbänker Tiefbau colliery . In 1881 the mine was mentioned in the documents. In 1882 , the St. Georg colliery consolidated with the Gideon colliery to form the United Gideon colliery.

Promotion and workforce

Edible coal was extracted from the mine. The first known production figures come from the year 1830; 3434 tons of hard coal were produced. In 1835, 295 tons of hard coal were mined. In 1840 496 ⅞ Prussian tons of hard coal were extracted. In 1842 6,972 Prussian tons of hard coal were mined. The last known figures are from 1845, with 19 miners 480 tons of hard coal were extracted.
