The Zeck is produced in Hamburg magazine of the autonomous scene. It is published by activists of the autonomous center Rote Flora and is considered to be the "most important magazine of the autonomous scene in Northern Germany".

overview

The Zeck was created almost two years after the founding of the Autonomous Center Rote Flora in Hamburg's Schanzenviertel in March 1992 under the name "Das Flora-Info" with the aim of educating the neighboring population about the activities of the still young center. After just two issues, the magazine changed its name to "Zeck". In April 1993 she gave herself the subtitle "The Info from the Red Flora". This was intended to express that from this point on the magazine no longer speaks in the name of Rote Flora, but is published by an independent group of flora activists.

The magazine is distributed free of charge with a print run of 2,000 copies. This is made possible by financial support from income from music and cultural events organized by the Rote Flora. Since January 2003 the Zeck, which was initially distributed monthly, has only been published every two months in A4 format with a length of 24 to 32 pages.

Based on the experiences of the previous magazines "Schanzenleben" and "Sabot" with investigative and criminal proceedings, the Zeck was created and disseminated conspiratorially from the start . The publisher and editorial team are not known.

In several cases, criminal complaints were filed following calls for criminal offenses in the magazine. In the course of the investigation, some of the sales offices were searched and part of the edition was confiscated. Most recently, on May 11, 2011, a bookstore was searched for issue 161 of Zeck from March / April 2011.

Alignment

The Zeck serves the autonomous scene as a communication platform. Since the active use of the Internet, she has concentrated on longer texts for the discussion of fundamental issues. In terms of content, the focus is on the criticism of sexism , racism , right-wing extremism and reporting on sympathetic projects of the left-wing autonomous scene. The magazine repeatedly contained "building instructions for incendiary devices, hook claws or comparable means for committing attacks."

Assessment of the constitution protection authorities

The Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution counts the Zeck among the media of the violent left-wing extremist spectrum. According to the Hamburg Office for the Protection of the Constitution, the magazine is used to discuss current issues but also to publish letters of self-accusation on arson attacks and property damage.
