Zen Gesner

Zen Gesner (born June 23, 1970 in Van Nuys , California ) is an American film actor .

Life

Zen Gesner was born in Van Nuys to actress Nan Martin and architect Harry Gesner and grew up in Santa Monica . His mother's first husband, and thus his stepfather, was the eight-time Oscar- nominated musical composer Robert Emmett Dolan . Zen Gesner was named after the Buddhist belief system Zen .

After primary school, he moved to London with his family. There he studied acting at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art . Here he was used as an actor in numerous plays by William Shakespeare , including Anything Goes , as well as in Chekhov's Cherry Orchard . In addition to archery, Gesner also learned to spit fire , so that he was briefly employed as an assistant combat director at the Royal Opera in London.

In 1994 Gesner stood in front of the film camera for the first time in the comedy film Dumm und Dümmer . The directors were Peter and Bobby Farrelly , who would subsequently become Gesner's brother-in-law. Because only one year after the shooting, he stepped in front of the altar in 1995 with the sister of the Farrelly brothers, Cynthia Farrelly Gesner. The couple, who are still married today, have three sons together in the meantime.

In addition to other film appearances, including Soldier Boyz and Kingpin in 1996, Gesner was in front of the camera as Sinbad in the television series The Adventures of Sinbad from 1996 . The series, which Gesner made popular in particular, was discontinued after two seasons in 1998. From 1997 to 1998 he was in 29 episodes of the telenovela All My Children in front of the camera.

Zen Gesner did not appear in any major feature films. In 2002 he appeared in the comedy film Boat Trip and in 2005 he was in Being There is Everything to See, a film that thematically deals with the Special Olympics .

Today Zen Gesner lives with his family in Los Angeles .
