Career

Zhou Feng started wrestling as a teenager. She belongs to the Liaoning wrestling club and is coached by Lu Hai. At a size of 1.75 meters, it usually wrestles in the weight class up to 69 kg, occasionally also in the heaviest weight class, which goes up to 75 kg and, since 2018, up to 76 kg.

She earned her first international success in 2011 when she won a bronze medal at the Junior World Championships in the weight class up to 72 kg in Bucharest. In the semifinals she lost at this championship against Natalja Vitalyevna Vorobyova from Russia, which she met again and again in decisive fights in her further career. In 2012, Zhou Feng became Junior World Champion in Pattaya in the same weight class, defeating Frenchwoman Cynthia Vanessa Vescan in the final.

In April 2014 she finished 2nd at the Asian Championships in Almaty in the weight class up to 75 kg behind Güzal Manjurowa from Kazakhstan. Since Natalja Vorobjowa surprisingly did not reach the final, Zhou Feng was eliminated and only came in 11th place. Less than a month later she had a great success at the Asian Games in Incheon, because she won the title there and beat Güzal Manjurowa in the final.

In 2015 Zhou Feng became the first Asian champion in the weight class up to 69 kg in Doha. At the World Championships this year in Las Vegas she started in the same weight class and defeated there u. a. also Sara Doshō from Japan. She was in the final, in which she lost again to Natalia Vorobjowa. She became runner-up world champion.

The Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro turned out to be a great disappointment for Zhou Feng . There she lost her first fight against Aline Focken from Germany in the weight class up to 69 kg . Since this did not reach the final, she was eliminated and only came in 12th place.

At the 2017 Asian Championships in New Delhi, Zhou Feng lost in the semifinals in the weight class up to 69 kg against the 2016 Olympic champion Sara Dosho and came in third. In February 2018, however, she was again Asian champion in the weight class up to 68 kg body weight in Bishkek. In the same weight class, she also represented the Chinese colors at the Team World Cup in Takasaki, Japan, in mid-March 2018. She defeated there in the preliminary rounds Tumentsetseg Sharkhuu from Mongolia and Alexandra Anghel from Romania. In the final, which China narrowly lost to Japan with 4-6 victories, she won over Miwa Morikawa.
