Zhou Lulu ( Chinese  周璐璐 , Pinyin Zhōu Lùlu ; born March 19, 1988 in Yantai in Shandong Province ) is a Chinese weightlifter . It was 2012 in London Olympic champion in the heavyweight division .

Career

Zhou Lulu was discovered in 1999 during a talent search at her elementary school because she already had excellent physical skills for weightlifting. This assessment turned out to be absolutely correct, as over the years she grew into an excellent weightlifter. She is now a member of the army and her trainer is Jang Zhijun. At a height of 1.75 meters, it starts in the heavyweight division and weighs around 135 kg.

In 2009 she became Chinese vice heavyweight champion and achieved a world record at this championship in snatching at 148 kg, which, however, could not be recognized as such due to the regulations of the International Weightlifting Federation (IWF), because world records can only be achieved at international championships.

In 2011 she took 2nd place in Tongling at the Asian Championships with a duel of 299 kg (142-158). In the same year she also won the World Championships in Paris with 328 kg (146-182) in front of Tatjana Kaschirina , Russia , 322 kg (147-175) and Mariam Ushman , Nigeria , 273 kg (117-156).

Zhou Lulu celebrated the greatest success of her career so far at the 2012 Olympic Games in London . She won there in the heavyweight division with the new world record load in a duel of 333 kg (146-187) before Tatjana Kaschirina, who came to 332 kg (151-181) and gave her a great fight. Zhou Lulu's victory was largely due to her pushing strength.

At the 2013 World Cup in Wrocław, Zhou Lulu met Tatjana Kaschirina again. After breaking, she led by 4 kg. In pushing she managed 182 kg, but was clearly surpassed in this discipline by Tatjana Kaschirina with 190 kg, so that she had to be content with 2nd place in a duel at this world championship. In snatch she became world champion with 146 kg.

In April 2014 she was again Chinese champion and achieved 323 kg (142-181) in a duel. In September 2014 she also won the Asian Games in Incheon / South Korea. She was in excellent shape and mastered 334 kg (142–192) in a duel. With her pushing performance of 192 kg, she achieved a new world record. She did not start at the 2014 World Cup in Almaty.
