Jang Mi-ran (born October 9, 1983 in Wonju ) is a South Korean weightlifter .

Career

Jang Mi-ran has been a weightlifter since she was 14. The 1.80 m tall athlete weighs around 130 kg; According to the organizer of the 2008 Summer Olympics, the 1.71 m tall athlete weighed around 117 kg at the time. Under her coach Yeom Dongchul, she grew into world class at the age of 18. She had bad luck at the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens . After the break, she was 7.5 kg in front of the Chinese Tang Gonghong , who, however, overtook her with a special performance in pushing. However, the attempt by the Chinese woman was not entirely correct, because she did not manage, as prescribed in the regulations, to place her feet parallel to each other with the weight held above her head. The jury still considered the Chinese's attempt to be valid, and Jang had to be satisfied with the silver medal. In 2006 she achieved a new world record in a duel at an event in Wonju, South Korea, weighing 318 kg.

Jang Mi-ran was also world champion in duels in 2006 in Santo Domingo and 2007 in Chiang Mai / Thailand . She beat the Chinese Mu Shuangshuang both times . In 2006 both athletes achieved 314 kg in a duel and 319 kg in 2007. Jang won because of their lower body weight.
