Ding Meiyuan

Ding Meiyuan ( Chinese  丁美媛 , Pinyin Dīng Měiyuan , born February 27, 1979 in Dalian , Liaoning Province , China ) is a Chinese weightlifter.

Career

Ding has been involved in various sports from childhood and began lifting weights at a sports school in Dalian in 1991 at the age of 12 . After her first successes in the youth field, she was appointed to the provincial team and later to the national team of China. At a height of 1.68 m, it weighs around 110 kg. Ding made her first international appearance at the age of 18 at the Junior World Championships in Cape Town . Her greatest success is her Olympic victory in Sydney in 2000 in the weight class over 75 kg. After that she rarely appeared internationally. She won the world title in Vancouver in 2003 . In 2004 she achieved an annual world best at a competition in Suzhou with 305 kg, but was not used at the Olympic Games. The competition in their own country is extremely strong in their weight class, it is worth remembering the 2004 Olympic champion Gonghong Tang and the 2005 vice world champion Mu Shuangshuang .
