Zhou Qiang

Zhou Qiang ( Chinese  周强 , Pinyin Zhōu Qiáng ; * 1960 in Huangmei , Hubei Province ) is a politician in the People's Republic of China .

Life

Zhou joined the Chinese Communist Party in 1978 . From 1978 to 1985 he studied at the Southwest University of Political Science and Law in Chongqing , which he completed with a master's degree. He then worked for ten years in the Ministry of Justice.

Zhou began his political career as secretary of the 13th Central Committee of the Chinese Communist Youth Association in 1995. From 1998 to 2006 he was Li Keqiang's first secretary. He was succeeded in this office by Hu Chunhua .

In 2006, he moved to the role of governor of Hunan Province . In 2010 he became party secretary of this province. He was succeeded as governor by Xu Shousheng .

In 1998 he was elected a member of the National People's Congress , to which he has belonged ever since. From 1998 to 2003 he was a member of the Committee for Internal and Legal Affairs . He has been a member of the Central Committee of the Chinese Communist Party since 2002 .

In 2013 he became President of the Supreme People's Court of the People's Republic of China .
