Zhu Guangya ( Chinese  朱光 亚 , Pinyin Zhū ​​Guāngyà ; * December 25, 1924 ; † February 26, 2011 ) was a Chinese physicist and a major co-developer of the Chinese atomic bomb and hydrogen bomb .

Zhu attended Nanjing University in 1941 and graduated from the Physics Department of the United Southwest University in 1945 . In 1950 he earned a doctorate from the University of Michigan in the United States. He returned to China in the spring of the same year and worked in the research field of nuclear reactors after 1957. Together with Deng Jiaxian and others, he led the development of the Chinese atomic bomb and hydrogen bomb.

In 1994, Zhu became the first president of the China Academy of Engineering . In 1999 he received an award for his contributions to China's Two Bombs, One Satellite project .

Zhu was a substitute member of the 9th and 10th Central Committees of the Chinese Communist Party and a member of the 11th, 12th, 13th and 14th Central Committees. In addition, he was a member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and served as chairman of the 8th and 9th Congresses of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference .
