geography

The parish village of Zittenfelden is located in the Odenwald in the Morre valley , between Hettigenbeuern and Amorbach . The valley used to be more important as a connecting route between the Bavarian and Baden Odenwald. To the west of the village is Beuchen , and to the southeast is Hornbach .

The Zittenfelden spring , designated as a natural monument, was named after the place.

history

The first documentary mention is from August 14, 1347 on the occasion of the granting of tithe and validity rights to Zittenfelden. From the 14th to 17th centuries, various noble families held parts of the village as fiefs. The fiefdom of the last owner, Franz Reinhard von Bettendorf, Mainz bailiff of Miltenberg , fell to the Amorbach monastery . The independent community was incorporated into the Schneeberg market in 1975.
