The Zopetkopf ( 3,087  m above sea level ) is a mountain peak on the Wallhorn ridge in the Venediger Group in East Tyrol ( Austria ). It is located in the north of the municipality of Prägraten am Großvenediger . Neighboring peaks are the Zopetspitze in the south and the Gastach walls in the north.

location

The Zopetkopf lies in the north of the Wallhorn ridge between the Scheidlscharte ( 2982  m above sea level ) in the northeast and the Zopetspitze ( 3198  m above sea level ) in the south, whereby the Zopetkopf is an insignificant secondary peak or the northern corner point of the north ridge of the Zopetspitze . To the north of the ridge is the Zettalunitzkees with the Zettalunitzbach, to the east is the Kleinitzalm in the rearmost Timmeltal with the ice lake. In addition to the south ridge leading to the Zopetspitze, there is a west ridge that slopes down into Hinterbichler Dorfertal and a north-east ridge that leads to the Seidlscharte.

Promotion opportunities

The normal route leads from the Johannishütte east up the slope to an altitude mark of 2629 meters. Then the ascent takes place over the green west ridge to the summit. An ascent is also possible via the northeast variant, which takes place from the Scheidlscharte via brittle wall steps. Both variants ( I ) were already used by the first climbers L. Prochaska and H. v. Ficker committed in 1898. The transition from the Zopetkopf to the Zopetspitze is then possible via the narrow south ridge ( II ).
