The Zopetspitze , also Zopatspitze or Zopatspitz, is at an altitude of 3198  m above sea level. A. the highest mountain peak of the Wallhornkamm in the Venediger group in East Tyrol ( Austria ). It is located in the north of the municipality of Prägraten am Großvenediger . Neighboring peaks are the Zopetkopf and the Gastacher Walls in the north and the Tulpspitze in the south.

location

The Zopetspitze lies between the Scheidlscharte ( 2982  m above sea level ) in the north and the Zopetscharte ( 2958  m above sea level ) in the south, with the Zopetkopf ( 3087  m above sea level ) in front of the Zopetspitze . The Zopetkopf is the northern corner point of the north ridge of the Zopetspitze. The Scheidlscharte separates the Zopetspitze and the Zopetkopf from the Gastach walls ( 3,076  m above sea level ), in the south the Zopetscharte forms the incision to the southern Tulpspitze ( 3,054  m above sea level ). To the north of the ridge is the Zettalunitzkees with the Zettalunitzbach, to the east the Kleinitzalm in the rearmost Timmeltal with the ice lake, with the Zopetspitze dropping off steeply to the east. In addition to the north ridge and the south-south-east ridge, the Zopetspitze also has a west ridge.

Promotion opportunities

The Zopetspitze was climbed for the first time as a tourist via the north ridge, with Ludwig Prohaska and Heinrich von Ficker using the south-southeast ridge for the descent in 1898. The normal route leads from the Johannishütte on the Venediger Höhenweg in the direction of the Zopetscharte, leaving the path at an altitude of 2780 meters and ascending over crags and snow fields to a flattening at 3001 meters. Then the west flank is climbed over blocky terrain to the summit ( I ). Another variant begins at the Eisseehütte, where you enter the Zopetscharte on the marked path and then continue unmarked, initially to the left of the south-south-east ridge in a rubble channel on a large ledge. This is followed by the ascent over the Schrofengrat to the summit ( I + ). The north ridge is accessible from the Johannishütte, the way to it leads over the Zopetkopf. The north ridge has a difficulty of II in some places .
