history
The chapel is a simple, plastered quarry stone building 8 meters long and 4 meters wide, which was renovated inside and out in 2009/10. The laying of the foundation stone of the chapel took place on May 30, 1859 with a solemn procession . The village with then 70 inhabitants was dependent on donations for the construction; Count Franz Egon von Fürstenberg-Stammheim donated 34 thalers for the construction of the chapel, out of a total of 270 thalers. The inauguration took place on May 2, 1861.
In the chapel, today owned by the Altenahr community, there is a rococo altar with columns and a curved top from the mid-18th century. In the altar niche are the statues of St. Urbanus , the patron saint of winemakers , and St. Donatus , who is called against storms and storm damage, as well as a Vesper picture .
