history
Zusenhofen was mentioned for the first time in 1152 and belonged to the Landvogtei Ortenau until 1805 .
There is evidence that the village was part of the Appenweier regional court since 1364 . It was also part of the so-called Hartwaldgenossenschaft. The Hartwaldgenossenschaft was an amalgamation of several villages near the Hartwald near Durbach . They jointly managed the forest so that there was no overexploitation. Zusenhofen was part of this cooperative as early as 1447 together with Appenweier, Erlach , Nesselried and Nussbach. The Hartwald was divided among the municipalities in 1805 and when it was dissolved it had an area of 1361 Jeuch and 354 Ruthen , which corresponds to around 4.9 km².
In 1805 Zusenhofen became a municipality in Baden . On January 1st, 1974 this was incorporated into Oberkirch.
